Lumbar Rehab Part 3 – Adaptation

Assessing Injury Adaptations and Understanding Rehab Implications.
This workshop has been designed to improve the rehabilitation professional’s understanding of the physical and biomechanical changes associated with back pain and injury.

The 2 day course includes a broad range of clinical assessment techniques and their interpretation covering the lumbar spine, pelvis (including the SIJ joint), hip and the integration of these regions with the lower limbs and thoracic spine. Aspects of motion, motor control changes, length and strength considerations and issues of compensation that can occur through the biomechanical chain are reviewed – along with how to interpret and prioritise your findings in your rehabilitation program design. The goal? Provide you with more tools to optimise your clients chance of a high level of functional recovery. This course builds on Lumbar Spine Parts 1 and 2, but can be completed on its own. This course provides 15 CPD Points for the 2 days (ESSA).

This workshop focuses on enhancing the rehab practitioners understanding of common lumbar spine presentations including anatomy, pathophysiology and indications for exercise program design to minimise risk and maximise clinical results.

Also included in the workshop are additional critical rehabilitation elements including time lines for physiological healing and adaptation, when to prioritise stability vs mobility, techniques and tricks to assess severity of presentation, understanding the elements of nerve root compression are also covered to improve your clinical confidence.
The overall goal of this program is to provide you with a clear understanding of a range of common back pain presentations and how to adapt and optimise your treatment selection to get great results and also minimise your risk of causing further injury. Accredited : 8 CPD Points from ESSA.
